Frequently Asked Questions

The tax on medical marijuana in Arkansas is the local sales tax plus the 4% marijuana tax collected by the state. In Texarkana the local sales tax is 10.25% + 4% marijuana tax = 14.25% tax on all medical marijuana purchases. At Red River Remedy we include this tax in all of our prices. What you see is what you pay.  Please note this a relatively fair tax rate as compared to other states and Red River Remedy has no control over the taxes the State imposes on the program.

A qualified patient in Arkansas is legally allowed to purchase up to 2.5 ounces (70.87g) of usable marijuana every 14 days. This patient allotment is tracked by the state track-and-trace system, so you cannot purchase 2.5 ounces from one dispensary and then go purchase another 2.5 ounces from another dispensary. For ancillary products (vape carts, concentrates, edibles, topicals, and tinctures) Arkansas is a 1:1 state, meaning, if you buy a jar of gummies with a total potency of 100mg (or .1g), that jar of gummies will only count as .1g off of your 14 day allotment. Another example would be that a .5g vape cartridge will only count as .5g off your allotment.

You are only allowed to consume Medical Marijuana in your residence, away from children or pregnant women. You are not allowed to consume marijuana in your vehicle or in a public place.

NO. Marijuana is still illegal on the federal level, because of this there is no legal way to cross state lines with marijuana even with a legal marijuana card.

Yes. If you are not able to come purchase medical marijuana for yourself due to a physical disability you may find a friend or family member to become your designated caregiver. A designated caregiver acts as your proxy and can come into the dispensary to purchase your medical marijuana on your behalf. Or if a minor qualifies for and receives a qualified patient medical marijuana card, their parents or legal guardians should apply for a caregiver card to accompany their child into the dispensary or purchase for them. A qualified designated caregiver must meet the following qualifications: be 21 years of age or older, the individual you are providing care for must be physically disabled or a minor, have not been convicted of an excluded felony offense, be an Arkansas resident with proof of residency (AR Driver’s License or AR State ID), and not be a member of the Arkansas National Guard or US Military.

NO. Your Arkansas Medical Marijuana card only allows you to purchase marijuana for yourself. You are not allowed to purchase medical marijuana for a friend or family member. You are not allowed to share your medical marijuana with a friend or family member. If you are in the dispensary openly talking about purchasing medical marijuana for a friend or family member who does not have a qualified patient card, we will refuse service and may ban you from future visits.

No. Pictures are prohibited for regulatory and security reasons. Phone conversations are not allowed either.

Yes, but only after you apply for and receive an out of state, temporary, qualified patient medical marijuana card issued by the Arkansas Department of Health. This visiting patient card is valid for 30 days once you receive it and allows you to legally purchase medical marijuana in the state of Arkansas. You can apply online at the Arkansas Department of Health website. We have found that the visiting patient cards are typically approved in 24-48 hours or less. Once approved, print out your card from the online portal and bring in a copy with your current driver’s license.

You will need to bring a valid photo ID and a valid Arkansas Medical Marijuana Card. If you are applying for the Compassionate Care Program you must also bring an acceptable form of documentation.
